In the wake of the devastating fire during storm Philippe, the Antigua Yacht Club (AYC) Marina has emerged from the ashes, phoenix-like, just in time for the start of the Winter sailing season and the highly anticipated Yacht Charter Show.

Charter Show crew Alistair said “we thought we were coming to a marina with nothing and now it feels better than ever.”

The marina’s remarkable recovery is a symbol of Carlo Falcone’s vision, and everyone’s determination and hard work. The opening night of the marina unfolded into a spectacular dock party and artisan market, celebrating the luxurious vessels surrounding the area for the Yacht Charter Show.

This wasn’t a dock party; it was a revival. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the lights twinkled on the Marina. The Christmas tree sparkled marking the spot where the bridge once stood. The atmosphere was electric.

Carlo, Shirley and Shaun Falcone stood aside for a few moments and surveyed the scene, justifiably proud of what they had achieved. Only a week ago, it had not seemed possible and tonight their vision was alive. The yacht club lent their comfy seats, Skullduggery‘s bar was back serving drinks, The Club House restaurant provided an array of sushi, local craftsmen displayed their wares; everyone did their part to make the  evening a triumph.

The party was a testament to the collaborative efforts that brought the marina back to life. Amidst the gleaming yachts, live music echoed across the water, and a sense of camaraderie enveloped the gathering. The AYC Marina, once charred and battered, now stands as a beacon of triumph, with each vessel gleaming proudly in its berth, a symbol of resilience in the face of nature’s fury.

The sounds of building gave way to the voice of local singer Joshu, laughter, clinking glasses, and the gentle lapping of the water against the docks. Residents, Yacht enthusiasts and industry professionals gathered, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of marina lights, to revel in the triumph of renewal. Local resident Steve summed up the thoughts of many. “I hope they’ll do this regularly; this is just so amazing.”

Incredible to see what the Falcone family have managed to do, from utter devastation to the most amazing welcoming community and yachting space … in time for one of the most important international yachting events, when all eyes are on Antigua .

The true meaning of a phoenix rising from the ashes.

🙏 well done Shirley, Shaun, Carlo
And the Antigua Yacht Club Marina Team .
