Christal Clashing goes for freediving record in Antigua

Christal Clashing attempts to set the female deep diving record for Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda’s Christal Clashing is no stranger to breaking barriers and setting records. This July, the trailblazing athlete, author, and business owner is on a mission to make history once again as she attempts to set a new national record for freediving.

From July 28 to August 4, Christal will dive into the waters of Dominica, competing against elite divers as she attempts to set the record title for a national female freediving record – something never before attained on the twin island.

So far, Christal has dived a maximum of 40 meters underwater in her quest to set the free diving record. This would be another first for the 34-year-old scuba dive master.

You can support Christal by donating to her crowdfunding campaign https://sportfunder.com/christalclashing

Who is Christal Clashing: She is an Antiguan athlete, author, business owner and a member of Team Island Girl who rowed across the Atlantic ocean – becoming the world’s first all black team to row across the Atlantic in 2019 and again rowed across the Pacific Ocean in 2023 becoming the world’s first black team to voluntarily do so. At the age of 14, Christal became the first female swimmer to represent Antigua and Barbuda in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. She is a certified ASCA swim coach, ACA stand-up paddle instructor and PADI divemaster.
