St. Johns, Antigua – The historic building that once housed the Ebenezer Primary School, also known as the Old Point School, was engulfed in flames last night. Fire officers are now conducting investigations into the cause of the fire.
According to Inspector Lester Bagot, a spokesperson for the fire department, the Old Point School building had been generally unoccupied for some time, except for occasional visits by vagrants seeking shelter.
An eyewitness at the scene reported that at the time of the fire there was no electricity in the Point and Villa area during the fire. The fire department said it will know more after they conduct full investigations.
