Law officers accused of Bruce Greenaway murder acquitted

The four law enforcement officers who were accused of killing Bruce Greenaway in April 2020 have been acquitted.

Earlier today (Wednesday) High Court Judge Justice Colin Williams accepted the defence lawyers’ no case submission for constable Jason Modeste, lance corporal Shakiel Thomas, private Armal Warner and private Aliyah Martin – who were reportedly the last people to see Greenaway alive.

Three livestock farmers found Greenaway’s body in shallow water in a remote area of Indian Creek on April 13, 2020.

Prior to his death, the four accused said they released the 43-year-old father on the roadside in Cobbs Cross and instructed him to go home, after detaining him for a few hours at the Dockyard base. Greenaway was arrested for breaking curfew during the start of the Covid-19 lockdowns.

The case had been ongoing for several weeks with a list of 36 people scheduled to testify.
