Deon Lloyd, 42, of Lower Ottos, made his first court appearance on Friday, January 10, charged with the murder of 35-year-old Javorn Williams of Old Road. Lloyd is accused of fatally shooting Williams on Thursday, January 2, at Boggy Peak (Mount Obama).

Appearing before Magistrate Ngaio Emmanuel, Lloyd was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison, with his next court hearing scheduled for March 26, 2025. He was accompanied by his attorney, Wendell Alexander, and appeared in court wearing a cast on his right arm, likely from injuries he sustained during the altercation.

According to police reports, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lloyd, who was also injured, was treated at the hospital before being taken into custody. Authorities confirmed Lloyd’s arrest and subsequent charge in a media release issued on Friday, January 10.

The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and police investigations are ongoing.  Williams’ death marks the first homicide case for Antigua in 2025.
