Canadian mother and son die after falling off Devil’s Bridge

The two were on vacation in Antigua and had ventured to the popular tourist site to witness the sunset

UPDATE: Mohini Misra, 37-year-old and her five-year-old son, Shray Misra died after falling into choppy waters at Devil’s Bridge on November 30, 2023, the same day they were scheduled to leave Antigua.

The family of three was visiting the island from Canada and decided to take pictures of their final sunset of Devil’s Bridge, a popular tourist site in Antigua.

Shray reportedly slid on a rock and grabbed his mother for support, pulling them both over the edge. Husband and father Satwick Misra attempted to grab on to his wife but was unable to grab onto her for long.

An autopsy and investigation surrounding their deaths are to be carried out the by the coroner and the Royal Police.


A Canadian man who arrived in Antigua on vacation is now mourning the loss of his five-year-old son and his 37-year-old wife, who both drowned after falling off popular tourist site, Devil’s Bridge on Thursday morning.  

Reports are that the family of three went to watch the sunrise when the mother and son fell off a cliff’s edge. Tourism minister Charles Fernandez, told state media that the little boy “saw something and ran” just then, a wave came up. He grabbed his mother’s legs and they both fell into the water. 

There are reports suggesting that the man attempted to save his wife but encountered difficulty swimming through the choppy waters.

The woman’s body was recovered first while the child’s body was discovered by Wilikies resident, Ronald Hosier who informed the authorities. The father has been receiving grief counselling. The police are investigating the matter further.
