St. John’s, Antigua – Antigua and Barbuda’s Labour Party candidate Rawdon Turner and the United Progressive Party’s George Wehner are set to face off in the St Peter by-election scheduled for January 14. The announcement came from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission last night, following nomination day activities at the Parham Primary School.

Nigel Bascus of the Missing Link Voice of the People Party failed to secure sufficient support for nomination before the day ended and will not be on the ballot.

Wehner was confirmed as the UPP’s candidate last week, shortly after the Writ of Election was issued. Both Turner and Wehner have already begun campaigning in the constituency, each vying to win the majority of votes.

The St Peter seat was previously held by independent MP Asot Michael, who was tragically killed in his home in November.
